Record: 6-6 ( 2 GB of Akron in Western Division)
Attendance: 2,847

Time: 2:54

Tyler Cloyd got the start for Reading and would be knocked around, but allow minimal runs. Cloyd did not have his best stuff tonight allowing 1o hits and three runs in six innings. True to form he did not walk a batter and did strikeout two. Michael Cisco came out of the bullpen and would work 1.2 innings before being lifted due to an apparent leg injury. He struck out three and allowed one hit in 1.2 innings of work. Jay Johnson would finish out the last of the eighth, picking up a strikeout.

Craig Westcott fought through six innings and would not figure in the decision by the end of the night. In six innings of work he allowed three runs on six hits, no walks, and five strikeouts. Austin Fleet came out and worked two full innings, picking up the loss in the process. He allowed one run on two hits, one walk, and three strikeouts. Jake Dunning allowed one run (unearned) to score in his one inning of work, striking out one along the way.

Tyson Gillies (2) and Troy Hanzawa (2) were the only R-Phils to collect multiple hits. Also picking up a triple and double, respectively. Hanzawa and Leandro Castro would both drive in two runs.

Tommy Joseph had himself a good night at the plate, going 2-4 with two doubles (one just missed going out to left center) and driving in a run. Gary Brown also picked up two hits, one being a double.

Notes:
– As a defender, Juan Perez is very fundamentally sound. Tonight he almost threw out a runner at home after cutting off a ball down the line and firing the ball back in while falling away from the plate. Outstanding route runner, very good arm, just lacks speed.
– Johnny Monell was taken out in the early innings and replaced with Joel Weeks. He is day-to-day with shoulder spasms.
– While he was in Monell did have a passed ball that shows his weakness behind the plate. On the plus side, the passed ball resulted in nailing a runner a third, ending an early threat from Reading.
